---------------------------------------------------------------------- Fiend 2.0b2 for Rhapsody DR2 September 2, 1998 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Fiend 2.0 is a dock for Rhapsody. This version is based on David C. Lambert's Fiend 1.4.1 source code, which he released on April 1, 1998. It provides multiple, named dock levels. This version doesn't have all of the features of version 1.4.1. Some of them, like the shelf, are no longer needed with Rhapsody. I'm still working on other features, but the dock should be useable right now. Some of the missing features are: - Find panel. - Ability to move (reorder) levels. - Moving icons between levels. New in 2.0b2: - Preference panel. - You can choose how new tiles are initially placed on the dock. I'm assuming you'll place it in one corner of the screen, and then want the tiles filled either horizontally or vertically. - The Fiend launcher is back, which should make Fiend more responsive when launching applications. - When you launch an application from the dock, it should now become activated. (Previously, the Fiend remained the active application.) - Service for adding applications to the dock. Ideas for future features - Create "proxy" application tiles for running applications that are not on the dock. The dock configurations are stored in ~/Library/Fiend, with a separate file for each screen resolution. The configurations are saved in property list format. I hope you find this useful. Comments and suggestions are welcomed. - Steve Nygard
