In Create, a slider allows you to select a quantity by moving the slider up or to the right for a larger amount, or down or to the left for a smaller amount.

All sliders in
Create have a default value. To reset a slider to its default, hold the Command key and click on the slider.

Sometimes the slider doesn't provide the fine control you need to select a particular value. Of course, you can always enter an exact value into the text field (see below), but
Create provides some alternatives.

- Holding the Alternate (Option) key while you click the slider will change the value by some pre-specified small amount (usually by one unit).

- Holding the Shift and the Alternate keys while clicking will cut the change amount in half.

- Holding the Control, Shift, and Alternate keys while clicking will cut the change amount in half again.

One technique is to drag the slider to the approximate value you want, and then press the modifier keys while you click to get exactly what you want.

Some sliders are set to provide integer (whole number) values. When you want a fractional value with these sliders, hold the Alternate and Shift keys while you click the knob. The slider-text field will now be set to provide decimal values. If you want integers again, return to the slider's default by command-clicking on the slider.
